Madeleine Grace Cañete
Madeleine Grace Cañete holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Calgary. As a university student, she studied with Charles Foreman and Dr. Jani Parsons through masterclasses and collaborative work. Madeleine was also involved in many performances such as the Pathways Program and the Soundboard Music Tour. In addition to her piano training, Madeleine was involved in other ensembles such as the University of Calgary Chamber Choir, singing as alto.
Madeleine is currently part of the executive team for the Alberta Piano Teachers Association (APTA) as the Continuing Education Convener. She was also the recipient for the Piano Centre (Steinway & Sons) Performance Scholarship in 2023, courtesy of APTA.
Madeleine maintains a busy teaching and accompanist life at her home private studio in Airdrie, Alberta, teaching students of all ages from children to adults, supporting them through festivals, RCM exams, and recitals. Moreover, she is also supporting her local community through her parish as the choir director and pianist. You can find her playing at weddings, funerals, and other functions. As an active performer and a strong advocate for lifelong learning, Madeleine continues to perform at local festivals, attending summer music programs such as the Vancouver Island Music Academy (VIMA), and is currently working towards her ARCT diploma under the mentorship of Derek Chiu.
Inspired by her own journey of self-discovery as a musician and educator, Madeleine’s fundamental teaching principle is to guide students to find their own unique identity in the music world.
